The Csango Federation would like to have a Hungarian school in Bákó (Bacau)

Only during the time of Petru Groza, was there state run Hungarian education in Moldova. -  This was voiced in the Tusvanyos camp at the presentation titled "The Chances for Hungarian Education for the Csangos."  Attila Hegyeli, leader of the educational program of the Csango Federation (MCSMSZ) explained that in Moldova there is opportunity for education in the Hungarian language.  At this time such education is implemented in only 13 villages.

The Csango population is about sixty thousand of which 9500 are school age children.  According to our documents the number of parents who require Hungarian education for their children is steadily growing.  The petitions of this request are demonstrated by the numbers.  In 2002 there were 37 petitions, in 2003  121, in 2004  286, and by May 2005  414.  This indicates the desire for education in the mother tongue.  Fr. Csaba Bojte Franciscan monk, the father of the  Foundation of St. Francis of Deva claims that the experiment in Deva is not hopeless because the Csangos "want to bend toward the light" and the children need to "be immersed into their Hungarian heritage."

On the Thursday meeting Szilvia Roka, the president of MCSMSZ was also present.  She is one of the few who after finishing her studies in Hungary returned, and applied her knowledge to the service of the community.  The MCSMSZ would like to establish a Hungarian school in Bako.  She explained that 15 years have passed, and by now our presence is felt, we want to establish a school in Bako.  We cannot experiment,  therefore greater emphasis is given to the educational program in Bako.  So far we did not receive any support from the churches, but a little easing up can be noticed. I hope that eventually their attitude will change.
