Private School and Kindergarten of Our Lady, Patrona Hungariae

School

According to the Public Education Law (1995) Saint Francis Foundation was allowed to found a Hungarian private school with 4 junior classes employing professional teachers. The 5^th grade pupils started in 1998/99. We also started a vocational carpenter high school in 2004/05 so at present we host a
9-grade school. An independent school (primary and high) – whatever the cost shall be – is an essential for an ethnic minority. The Romanian government doesn’t support us with either books or with money. The school is financed by the foundation. Elder children continue their education in the Hungarian minority school, so far the have adopted well.

Kindergarten

Most of our children didn’t attend kindergarten and lack certain skills, competencies and abilities necessary for school training. Quite a lot of them don’t even speak their mother tongue. To establish primary school education we thought it necessary to start kindergartens. Children from the town and from the neighbourhood also attend our institutions so our pupils can fit into the Hungarian community much easier. As well as providing intellectual training – which is provided in any other school as well – children receive education based on Christian values.
